The Museum of the Textile Industry is a specialized museum that preserves and presents cultural values related to the Bulgarian textile industrial cultural heritage, the history and development of textile equipment/technique and technology, and the role of Sliven in the economic development of our country.
Sliven is the first and one of the major industrial centers of Bulgaria. The idea of creating an industrial museum in the city dates since 1903. It was actually realized almost 90 years later, when 150 years of the beginning of Bulgarian industry were celebrated. In 1984, the museum was included in the museum network of Bulgaria, and on September 8, 1986, it was officially opened for visits.
The museum exposition is thematic, characterized by strict chronology and dynamism. A large part of the exhibits are working and live demonstrations are performed on them in real time. During a tour with a professional guide and demonstrator, visitors have the opportunity to be not only observers, but also participants in the presentation.
